The 12th District is home to countless condominium and homeowners associations – probably more than any other legislative district in the state. Resident and board member issues relating to associations are one of the most frequently encountered problems local residents face. I am always looking to introduce condo-specific legislation and host informational events regarding condo law, and welcome your suggestions on how I can help make condo living easier for you. Illinois has appointed a Condominium and Common Interest Community Ombudsperson in order to provide information to unit owners, condo associations, and boards. The Condo Unit Owner’s Rights and Responsibilities  is published by the Ombudsperson, and provides easy-to-understand explanations of condo law as well as answers to common condo-related questions. The Rights and Responsibilities of Association Board Members  is a resource for condo association board members. It provides an overview of rights and responsibilities in order to prepare Board Members to properly “govern” their communities. The Illinois Condominium & Common Interest Community Ombudsperson website  contains additional resources, as well as contact information for the Ombudsperson.

Illinois Chapter of the Community Associations Institute : The Illinois Chapter of Community Associations Institute serves the educational, business, and networking needs of community associations in the Chicagoland Area. Members include condominium, cooperative, and homeowner associations as well as those who provide services and products to associations. The Illinois Chapter has over 1100 members including 250 businesses, and over 500 community associations Board members and unit owners representing over 100,000 homeowners . The Illinois Chapter is one of 60 Community Associations Institute chapters in the nation.
