Citizens Utility Board Energy Saver: To take advantage of this free service, residents create a profile that includes some information about their home and energy usage. Once registered, consumers can see what their likely cost savings would be if their household made certain changes and search for energy saving tips based on cost of implementation. Suggestions range from investing in energy efficient appliances to cleaning the oven by hand. Consumers may link the program to their ComEd electric bill to run an analysis on energy usage and suggest additional ways to save. Furthermore, residents can earn rewards and coupons for enacting green habits at home. Residents can begin using the free program by visiting www.cubenergysaver.com/teams/sarafeigenholtz  and completing the registration.
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP): LIHEAP helps low income households with home energy costs. For more information or to learn how to apply, visit the US Department of Health and Human Services website  or the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity website . To apply for assistance, 12th District residents should call CEDA at (800) 571-2332.
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Summer Assistance Program: The LIHEAP Summer Energy Assistance Program is targeted to at-risk households defined as seniors,persons with disabilities, families with children less than 60 months of age as of the date of application, and those with medical conditions that would be aggravated by extreme heat. “Share the Warmth”: Share the Warmth is administered by the Community and Economic Development Association and helps low-income natural gas customers by providing matching grants for heating bills. More information can be found here .
ComEd CARE Residential Hardship : Do you have a financial hardship due to job loss, illness, military deployment, disability, or as a senior citizen? If so, you may be eligible for assistance through ComEd’s Residential Special Hardship program. Income-eligible, residential customers can apply once every two years for grants of up to $500 based on need and availability of program funds. To apply, contact CEDA by calling 800-571-2332 .
ComEd CHAMP Program for Veterans:  ComEd assists activated and deployed members of the U.S. Armed Forces, National Guard, Reserves and honorably discharged veterans with paying their electric bills. CHAMP is a financial-assistance program that offers an optional package of benefits to qualified military personnel who reside within ComEd’s service territory and have fallen behind on their electric bill.
